MORRISON SCHOOLS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $10,000 GRANT TO
MORRISON EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM
The Morrison Schools Foundation is pleased to announce making a $10,000 grant to the
Morrison Early Learning Program at the Morrison School District. The grant was the
result of a summer fundraising campaign aimed at preventing cuts to the Early Learning
Program.

The Early Learning Program is a blended, team approach to preschool education and
provides opportunities for children with Special Needs and students who have been
identified as At-Risk to share learning experiences. The program follows Illinois state
guidelines for special education, stating that no more than 30% of the class be made up of
students with Special Needs. The remaining 70% of the class is composed of students
identified as At-Risk of academic failure. By combining these two groups of students, the
Morrison Early Learning Program is able to provide appropriate academic services to all
students who need additional instruction to achieve their appropriate school readiness
skills.

“We are very proud as a new organization to have reached this important goal,” said
Morrison Schools Foundation President Trent Bush. “We could not have accomplished
this without great volunteers and broad community support. Because of their effort, our
community’s special needs and at-risk preschoolers will continue to benefit from this
unique and invaluable program.”

The Morrison Schools Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation and is an affiliate of the
Community Foundation of the Great River Bend based in the Quad Cities. The mission of
the Morrison Schools Foundation is two-fold: to enhance the education of Morrison’s
students by raising funds to enable greater educational opportunities; and to
strengthenMorrison by promoting the engagement of its residents, businesses and
alumni in the schools.
