Last night the Morrison Schools Foundation went public...introducing the community to the
mission & scope that the organization envisions for both the long term as well as the very short term
need of supplementing funds for the Morrison Early Learning Program for the coming school year.

Trent Bush illustrated the impact an established schools foundation could have on the quality of
education for students from a wide variety of aspects -- strengthening the at-risk preK program;
focusing attention on the arts/language programs that have suffered cuts in years past; as well as
assisting teachers in creative initiatives in order to further strengthen Morrison's overall academic
system. Not only would a schools foundation serve to boost the education of students, but it could
also be a launching point for re-energizing resources & communication througout the entire
Morrison community -- students/parents; schools/staff; businesses/organizations; alumni.

The Morrison Schools Foundation is presently working on plans for official formation, and hopes to
be "official" in the coming weeks. ANYONE interested in serving on the board, or helping in the
establishment of the organization is encouraged to contact Trent at 815.625.8200.

Other volunteer opportunities are emerging as well...the first official project of MSF will be a plot at
the Community Garden & a booth at the Farmer's Market. If you are a gardener, or just like to get
your hands dirty, or if you have a few hours this summer to sit at our booth at the Market & sell
various produce items & chat with others about MSF, please contact us ASAP, as we are forming
committees & schedules in the next few board, or helping in the establishment of the organization is
encouraged to contact Trent at 815.625.8200.

MSF is also looking for anyone with technical skills to join our "techy" team for website development
& other technical details that come up...the hope is to create a group of a few individuals who can
share the workload, so that no one person is saddled with all the duties of maintaining a website, etc.
An Alumni Association is also in the process of launching, and MSF would love for anyone
interested in tracking down long lost graduates of Morrrison High to volunteer for this committee.

Lots of opportunities to serve your community, in a fun & innovative way through the Morrison
Schools Foundation! We look forward to hearing from you...this is a community effort, the more
people MSF has working for our students the better!
